What is CORDURA® Ballistic Nylon?
Manufactured by Invista, a company famous for its military-spec fabrics, this nylon fabric is so durable and abrasion-resistant that it is even used in bulletproof vests.
This is the strongest material among the many Cordura nylons available, and although it meets military specifications, it is used in a variety of general-purpose products.
The thread used to make the fabric is made from twisted "super strong 66 nylon thread" that was originally used for military purposes in the United States.
The strength of the thread directly affects the strength of the fabric. The thread is measured in denier (D), and while typical nylon fabrics are around 210D for thin ones, 420D for regular ones, and 1000D for thick ones, Cordura Ballistic Nylon is as thick as 1680D. This means that it is four times thicker than regular fabrics.
Also, since the thickness of the thread is proportional to the weight, the higher the denier, the heavier the fabric, but one of Cordura nylon's features is that it is relatively lightweight.
The back of the fabric is coated with PVC to provide waterproof performance, so you can use it without panicking even in sudden bad weather.
This material is both durable and waterproof, providing all the functionality you need for a business bag.
